چکیده

Background. Aphids are one of the insect groups with greatest impact on agricultural production. They affect a wide range hosts, including fruit trees such as citrus. Objective. Identify main morphological characters and evaluate rearing protocol for aphid Toxoptera aurantii Boyer de Fonscolombe, 1841 (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in room-temperature protected environment. Methodology. Specimens were collected from citrus production province Coclé, infested branches cut placed plastic containers transport. Insects separated identification through micro slides, observed under microscope identified using taxonomic reference keys. Four treatments established mucuna (Mucuna pruriens [L.] DC.), canavalia (Canavalia ensiformis bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) orange jasmine (Murraya paniculata Jack) host plants. Abundance was evaluated at 2 14 DAI. Data analyzed by analysis variance. For each treatment, 30 plants used, five aphids different stages (two adults three nymphs) released plant. Plants 0 to DAI (Days after infestation). Insect abundance variance. Results. The determinant species T. identified. Statistically significant differences between (p<0.05) DAI, where plant that highlighted an average 51.5 ± 55.95 specimens per Implications. This research implies importance identifying determining meets feeding preferences breeding. Conclusions. The use room temperature greenhouses allows establishment offspring 10.3 times greater than initial population periods DAI.

First field records of the sexuales (males and oviparae) of Toxoptera aurantii (Hemiptera: Aphididae)

Toxoptera aurantii (Boyer de Fonscolombe) is an aphid pest of great agricultural importance, not only due to its polyphagy but mostly due to its ability to transmit various plant viruses e.g. Citrus tristeza virus on Citrus (Blackman & Eastop, 2000). Blackman & Eastop (2000) considered this aphid to be entirely anholocyclic, because no sexual morphs have ever been observed in the field. However...
